Requirements
Exchange Server Toolbox runs on any edition of the operating systems:
| • | Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 Bit) |
| • | Windows Server 2008 (32 Bit / 64 Bit) |
| • | Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit / 64 Bit) |

| • | Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 (32 Bit) |
The Exchange Server Toolbox is designed to process up to 15 000 - 30 000 mail messages per day. The exact number depends on the rules defined and if it is running on Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010.
| • | The .NET Framework 3.5 is required and will be automatically downloaded by the setup if it has not already been installed. |
| • | The installation needs about 300MB free disk space. |
| • | During processing mails the Exchange Server Toolbox uses up to 300MB RAM depending on the integrated modules you enable and the size of the mails processed. So we recommend at least 1GB RAM. |
The CPU requirement is predetermined by the Exchange Server.
Introduction
The Exchange Server Toolbox is realised as an EventSink for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. The setup of the Exchange Server Toolbox registers it for the event of incoming and outgoing mail via SMTP.
For Exchange Server 2007/2010 an agent installed. The Exchange Server Toolbox service is contacted Exchange Server Toolbox Agent/EventSink and processes the messages.
The Exchanges Server 2003 calls its sinks on the occurrence of the appropriate event. Then, the EventSink has 60 seconds time to do its job. If the EventSink takes longer than 60 seconds the Exchange Server ignores all changes the sink has made on the message and delivers it untouched.
The Exchange Server 2007/2010 works similar using the Exchange Server Toolbox Agent. Then a timeout of 4 minutes will be used by the Exchange Server Toolbox Agent.
The Exchange Server Toolbox comes with four main functions:
It...
| • | can create a backup of all incoming and outgoing mail (via SMTP). |
| • | filters spam with the integrated Spam filter (SpamAssassin). |
| • | scans for viruses with integrated antivirus (ClamAV) or your installed antivirus software. |
| • | has a powerful rules engine to process your mail. |
