'Send SMS text message' Action

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

This dialog allows you to specify the details of the 'Send SMS text message' action. The cells in the right table column are all accessible for entering text.

In order to use this action, a mobile phone is needed that is usually connected to your PC with a USB cable or via Bluetooth. It is suggested to use a prepaid
SIM-card for phone operation.

The 'SMS text message' action uses the independent GSM network of your phone provider to send the messages, e.g. through an ‘old’ mobile phone
connected to the server. This is an advantage if your default network infrastructure fails.

It is recommended that you install the drivers of your phone on the computer to get support for a virtual serial line.

Assistent:

Assistant Phone 1

Determine the recipients that receive a short message, the baud rate of the virtual communication port and its port number.

Furthermore you are able to configure the price of one short message and the current account of your mobil phone. If the current account is sufficient to send only a few messages a warning would be appended to the message. Please note: Short messages only allow 160 characters and so it is possible that this warning is shortened. If the credit balance is completely used up, the  ServerSentinel will prompt an error message.
