'Set Status' Action

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

If a condition matched and this action is configured, the data that has been collected and is processed by the configured conditions will have the status be set to one of the three possibilities "Ok", "Error" or "Warning".

This action should not be used to override errors (which is not really recommended), but to define error situations on your own and have the collected data reflect that. The action works well in conjunction with the sensor option "Only check if this sensor didn't fail".

Suppose you have configured a ping sensor that checks a gateway every minute. If the response time drops below 1000 milliseconds, the gateway is considered offline and an email action is configured to notify an administrator. If an additional condition triggers the "set status" operation so the data has the error flag set, any sensors depending on the ping sensor will automatically stop checking as well.
A HTTP Sensor that uses the particular gateway won't cause error notifications.
