Security Considerations

Return to chapter overview

Since this software checks the operativeness of crucial system components, passwords are often required for the tests. The ServerSentinel have to store these passwords in the database to do the regular checks.

The default configuration of ServerSentinel stores this sensitive information in the "sentinel.db" file within the DATA subdirectory of your  ServerSentinel installation.

Note: Please take care to set the access rights of this file accordingly for production systems. Only the administrator and the ServerSentinel account should have permission to read/write this file.
