At 'profile 1. Profile' you can specify the sender profile and the corresponding SMTP account.

Profile Menu

On the left side of SmartSerialMail you can will the profile menu. In this menu all created profiles are listed. To change the profile just click on the entry in the list.


 

sender_information

 

Sender Information

From Address:

Your Mails will be sent with this address. If no 'Reply to' address is specified, answers will return to this address.

Type a valid e-mail address here, e.g. 'yourname@provider.com'.

In the blank box a short help text is shown.

 

The address in this box will be checked during input and one of the following 3 icons could be shown:

 

checktrue

The address is formally correct.

 

note Note:

It cannot be guaranteed, that the address really exists.

checkinfo

The address is formally correct, but some Programs/Providers might not treat it as such.

checkfalse

The address is not set or formally incorrect.

Display Name:

If specified, the recipient will see this name in the 'From:' field of the mail client. If you don't specify it, the recipient will see the specified 'From Address'.

This box is optional, but we recommend that you fill it out.

Reply Address:

The reply of the recipient will be sent to this address.

If not specified, the address in the 'From Address' box will be used.

The address is formally correct, but some Programs/Providers might not treat it as such.

advanced_Sender_Information

 

Advanced Sender Information

Expand / Collapse

Opens or closes the 'Extended Sender Information' box.

Request a Read Notification

If this option is set, the recipient will be asked for a read notification by the mail  client.

 

note Note:

The recipient may refuse to send a notification.

Request a Delivery Receipt

If this option is set, the accepting server will be asked for a delivery receipt.

 

note Note:

Not every server supports this feature.

Sensitivity:

Sets the sensitivity flag of the mail.

Priority:

Sets the priority flag of the mail.

Custom Headers

Opens a text field for editing the header of the mail-to-send manually.

CC Address:

A copy of all sent mails goes to this address. The address will be shown to the other recipients.

 

note Note:

When your recipient list contains 100 addresses there will be sent 100 copies, too.

CC Name:

If specified, the recipient will see this name in the 'CC:' field of the mail client.

Copy is sent as blind carbon copy (BCC)

If this option is set, the CC Address and the CC Name won't be shown to the other recipients of the mail.

Outgoing Server Options

SMTP Server:

An SMTP server is the server that is used for outgoing mail.

Type in the SMTP server name or address.

Contact your Internet Service Provider or take a look at the configuration of your mail client if you need to obtain information about it.

The address in this box will be checked during input and one of the following 2 icons could be shown:

The server name or address is formally correct.

 

note Note:

It cannot be guaranteed, that the server really exists.

checkfalse

The server name or address is not set or formally incorrect

 

Test Connection
 

Press the button 'test_connectionTest Connection' in the 'Home' toolbar, to  verify your SMTP server settings. If all of the settings are correct a test mail will be sent to the mail address specified as 'From Address'.

 

note Note:

If the connection test should fail, check your settings and have a look at the common error entries in the FAQ.

 


 

outgoing_server_options

 

Advanced Outgoing Server Options

In the Advanced Outgoing Server Options you may specify the advanced server properties such as port and authentication.

Server Port

This option sets the port used to communicate with your SMTP server. The default SMTP server port is 25.

 

note Note:

Don't modify the server port unless your provider explicitly specifies another port!

Default Port

Resets the server port to the standard.

Security

In this drop down box you can select SSL or TLS if your outgoing server requires one of these authentications.

Contact your Internet Service Provider if you need to obtain information about it.

Server requires a POP before sending

This option has to be set if the SMTP server requires a contact via POP.

Contact your Internet Service Provider if you need to obtain information about it.

 

note Note:

If this option is set, the POP data also has to be filled in at point

returns '6. Returns'.

Server requires authentication

This option has to be set if the SMTP server requires authentication. Contact your Internet Service Provider if you need to obtain information about it.

 

note Note:

If this option is set, you will have to enter username and password for the server!

Username

Type in your username for the SMTP server. Contact your Internet Service Provider if you need to obtain information about it.

If you don't need a username, deactivate the option 'Server requires SMTP authentication'.

Password

Type in your password for the SMTP server. Contact your Internet Service Provider if you need to obtain information about it.

Test Connection

Sending Options

Sequential Processing

SmartSerialMail sends the messages one after the other.

Parallel Processing

SmartSerialMail sends as many messages as possible at the same time.

With a Time Delay:

Defines the time interval between the sending of X messages.

 

Example: sending of 5 Mails, 2 minutes interval.

1.sending of 5 mails
2.2 minutes pause
3.sending of 5 mails
4.2 minutes pause
5....

Server name

Type in the name of your POP3/Exchange server.

Contact your Internet Service Provider or take a look into the configuration of your mail client if you need to obtain information about it.

User Name

Type in your user name for the POP3/Exchange server. Contact your Internet Service Provider if you need to obtain information about it.

Type in your password for the POP3/Exchange server. Contact your Internet Service Provider if you need to obtain information about it.

Type

Select the type of your incoming server.

The two options you can choose from are:

POP3/Exchange
IMAP/Exchange

Test Connection

Press this button 'test_connectionTest Connection' in the Menu tab Home, to  verify your server settings. If all the settings are correct a test mail will be sent to the mail address specified as 'From Address'.

Server Port

This option sets the port used to communicate with your POP3/Exchange server.

 

note Note:

The default POP3/Exchange server port without explicit SSL/TLS is 110, with explicit SSL/TLS it is 995.

Security

This option has to be set if the SMTP server requires the SSL/TLS authentication.
