The following columns are available:

Name

The name of the folder or file.

Full Path

The full path, including the object's name.

Size

The size of the object.

Allocated

The space, that the object currently occupies on disk (see also: Wasted Space).

% of Parent

The amount of space in percent that a folder or file occupies relative to its parent folder.

Wasted

The amount of space that is wasted by the file system (see also: Wasted Space).

CD/DVD size

The space that would be allocated by this folder/file on a CD or DVD.

Compression

The size in percent by which an object has been compressed using the built in compression of the file system (see also: Notes on NTFS).

Permissions

The access permissions to the object in the format: Username1: +/-R +/-W +/-X   Username2: ... where "+" means the right is granted and "-" means that the right is denied. "R" stands for read access and "W" for write access. For files "X" means the right to execute, for directories the right to list the directory content.

Dir Level

The level of an object in the file system. This value can be useful when post processing the collected data.

Avg. File Size

File Version

If the file contains version information, the version of the file is shown her.

Error

In case a folder could not be scanned, this column will contain the message of the error that occurred.

Annotation

You can add annotations using the toolbar of the "Details" list or the context menu ("SpaceObServer / Add Annotation"). The annotations are saved in the database and can be displayed in this column.

Title of Scan

By default the title (volume label and drive letter) of a scan. This value can be useful for archiving purposes.

Current Date

The current date. This column can be useful if you want to process the collected data.

% Size Growth

The percentage size increase/decrease of this file system element in the selected "History" interval.

Size Growth last Week

The size increase/decrease of the file system object in the last week.

Size Growth last Month

The size increase/decrease of the file system object in the last month.

Path Length

Shows the number of characters included in the full path of this file or folder.

Note:        SpaceObServer calculates most of this information out of the saved data of the database. So the values shown in the Windows Explorer may differ when files were modified since the last scan of the directory.

Some of the information is not stored in the database, but queried from the file system "as needed". This could cause slow exports.
Thus columns are: "Permissions", "File Version", "MD5 Checksum", "MS Office Author", "MS Office Last Save Date", "Full User Name" and "User Comment".

Some of the information is not cached in the database, but has to be calculated using SQL statements which could be quite complex and costly.
Thus columns are: "Wasted", "CD/DVD size", "Size Growth", "% Size Growth", "Size Growth last Week" and "Size Growth last Month".

Export: Export Full Branch

With this option activated, the whole file system tree will be exported or printed. Otherwise only the expanded folders are exported.

Header: Include in Export

Check it to control, if a header line (containing the column headers and some other information) should be added to the exported file or the printed report.

Units: Include in Export

If the check box "Include in Export" is checked, units like "KB", "MB", or "%" will be included in the exported data. Uncheck this option if you want to export plain values only. Without the units the thousands separators will also be omitted, which simplifies further processing of exported values.

Use Byte Units

Check the check box "Use Byte Values" if you always want to export plain byte values, independent of the currently selected size unit.

Include single Files in Export

Activate this option to include single files in the export. Otherwise only directories will be exported.

Default Export File

Here you can specify an Excel file into the exported data should be written by default.

Optional Style Sheet

Enter your own Style Sheet (CSS file) for exported HTML files here. By default the provided file "spaceobserver.css" is used.

Size of column

This option is only available for printed reports and allows you to adjust the column width of the column that is currently selected in the list above.
